Chorley Advanced Motorists have won the prestigious Group Achievement Award for 2010. This was presented at the IAM National Car Conference at Warwick University on 9th October 2010.
The Attached Photo shows the Award being presented to Norman Leigh, Chairman by Saffron Insurance and Simon Best, CEO of the IAM Ltd. Also pictured are Comittee members Pasco De Palma and Simon Kirkman.
The group have excelled with the organisation of the Alive to Drive Events, Processing Observers to become Senior Observers, Assistance and Attendance at IAM events, and many other changes over the past few years.

These Awards are presented annually at the IAM National Car and
Motorcycle Conferences. Cash prizes are given to those Groups who achieve
first, second and third place. Additional Groups are highly commended.

Tests per observer

Number of hours

Blackburn is getting it's first Classic Car show at Witton Park on 9th May 2010, organised by the same people that do the Royal Lancs Show. It should be a fabulous day out!
If any members have or know people that have a classic car (or two) that they'd like to show, the organisers are inviting entries now and as it's likely to be oversubscribed, so it's worth getting in early.

Chorley Group Member Darren Jones has just set up a new business venture in Darwen which some members of the Chorley IAM group may be interested in.
Autopia Service Centres is a DIY Workshop offering workspaces, ramps and tools for hourly rental, ideal for servicing, repairs, pre-MOT checks. Recently interviewed on Graham Liver's BBC Radio Lancashire show and it's generating a lot of interest in the area, perfect for vehicle owners who need to get under their cars but dont want to do it in the street or a cramped garage.
